The Gambian Association organised a cultural evening which was graced by the renown Gambian musician Jaliba Kuyateh, whoes experience took him round the world. Mr Kuyateh and his Kumareh band performed a memorable concert which left the community yearning for more. He later went on to have a couple of radio interviews on the origins of traditional African music. Before he left for the Gambia Jaliba was able to have some kora lessons with the youths of our community. He is a knowledgeable historian and an expert Kora player. His visit was a launching pad for our Arts and cultural program. Jaliba’s performance help introduce Gambian Arts and culture to the wider community which was unknown. The richness of our cultural heritage is attracting people to our events and the participation is brilliant.
