07/07/2016 Hawkeswood Metal Recycling Accident After One Year

Fallback Image

Once again we are very sad to remember the untimely departure of our loved ones through industrial accident at Hawkswood Metal Recycling Centre in Nechells. This was a tragic accident that claimed the lives of four Gambians, one Senegalese, one person sustained a broken leg and the other one was completely devastated and traumatised for been at the scene of the accident.

We do not only want to remember them but to standby the deceased families in commemoration of the sad departure of their fathers, husbands, brothers and above all the breadwinners of their families after one long year. We have seen humanity in action ranging from the local MP, local councilor, the fire service, police and the general public during the time of the accident. We had also received generous financial support from Lord Mayor Foundation, various organisations, the media houses and individuals which were all invaluable during those difficult times.

We are unhappy that nothing much has been done to help the deceased families a year on after the departure of their breadwinners. On this note, the Gambian Association is reopening its appeal to the general public to support in any way to help the deceased families in order to alleviate financial and moral difficulties they have been going through.
